Dr Robert True is widely recognized globally as an outstanding hair restoration surgeon and an important leader in the field of hair restoration surgery. Among his many surgical innovations and scientific contributions to the field he is considered one of the most important pioneers of FUE (Follicular Unit Excision) having begun to develop the technique as early as 2001 and contributing many refinements since. He is one of the most active teachers of HRS in the world.

Dr True received his medical training from some of the most prestigious institutions in the world including McGill Faculty of Medicine, Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins, and University of Illinois.

After his early career devoted to underserved peoples in the US, Africa, Asia, and Southeast Asia he became interested in hair restoration surgery, which he has practiced exclusively since 1991.

He is a recommended surgeon by the American Hair Loss Council and the International Alliance of Hair Restoration Surgery. He is a past president of the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery, Scientific Program Director of the ISHRS, member of the Board of Governors of the ISHRS, and Editor Emeritus of the Hair Transplant Forum International.
