Endorsed by The American Hair Loss Association, and deservedly included in Ape To Gentlemen’s illustrious list of The World’s Top 25 Hair Transplant Surgeons for 2020, Dr. Patrick Mwamba MD has been a driving force in the hair restoration industry for many years.

And at SpexHair I’m delighted to announce our new association with him.

As one of the most respected physicians in the world, Patrick brings with him a wealth of experience, having brought his skill and expertise learnt in Europe, across to the US. He is, without question, a surgeon who always puts the patients’ needs at the focus of everything he does and continually looks at ways to progress his work and evolve an industry which he genuinely cares for.
On completion of his medical degree at the Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium in 1998, Patrick initially participated in a fellowship in general surgery, where he developed fine hand-dexterity skills, while becoming an expert in wound management and closure techniques. From here, he took the bold step to specialise in the area of hair restoration.

Fast forward to 2000 and, with his new-found knowledge and skills, Patrick took the plunge and moved to the US and began working with the world-respected physician, Dr. John Cole at the New Hair Institute (NHI) and then MHR.
Patrick instantly found his ‘element’ and so began his lifelong dedication to the art and science of hair replacement. This focus was further fuelled by his unwavering compassion for hair loss sufferers and so a transition to the practice of hair transplantation full-time, seemed a natural next step.

In 2002, Patrick was asked to move to Atlanta Georgia with his mentor Dr. Cole and become a founding team member of Coles’ prestigious new clinic, the International Hair Transplant Institute (IHTI).
After four incredible years ‘cutting his teeth’ working alongside Dr. Cole, Patrick made the life-changing decision to go it alone and in 2006, he opened his own private medical practice, the World Hair Transplant Centre, in Brussels, Belgium.
Focusing exclusively on hair restoration surgery, Patrick’s team is at the forefront of embracing ground-breaking technologies and industry-leading techniques – and is strengthened by the unrivalled knowledge and expertise that Patrick brings to the operating table.

With the ever-increasing demand for FIT/FUE, Patrick’s work has largely evolved into performing both STRIP and FUE, which he firmly believes are two techniques that are complementary of each other and can help to optimise the end result for his patients.

Interestingly – and not surprisingly – Patrick was one of the first fue hair surgeons in the world to perform the My U-FUE Hair Transplant, which essentially meant no shaving of the patient’s recipient site or donor area.
In his own words, Patrick finds his life’s work to be as challenging as it is rewarding and he constantly strives to foster a working environment that’s happy and productive, for both patients and staff alike. Patrick feels enormously privileged to have been schooled –and become a specialist—in the art of total microscopic Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT). Likewise, he is incredibly proud to be one the original pioneers of the minimally invasive Follicular Isolation Technique (FIT), also referred to as Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE).

On a personal level, Patrick’s affable nature is noted and hugely appreciated by many of his associates and team members. While his genuine empathy for patients, combined with his meticulous planning and aesthetic approach, mark him out as one of the true leaders in the hair transplant industry.

Welcome Patrick – it’s great to be associated with you!
